Polyester
Everyone is talking about sustainability - and so are we!
Waste plastics are littering our oceans and greenhouse gases are accelerating climate change. We too know how important it is not to be part of the problem, but to be part of the solution. It plays a big role how we and our pets live.
That's why most of our products are made from recycled PET bottles. Polyester is the optimum fibre for dog bed fabrics, for example, which are always very dirty. The fabric remains dimensionally stable even after many washes and retains its colour and structure. Quality features that have a lasting effect, because a dog bed with a particularly long service life conserves natural resources.
In order to produce polyester threads from old PET bottles, the plastic bottle flakes must first be melted, dyed and processed into thin threads.
Polyester is a versatile plastic. For a dog toy, for example, between 12 and 25 PET bottles are recycled, depending on the size - a little more for dog blankets and beds.
Polyester fibres are particularly light and weather resistant and therefore resistant to climatic influences. They are also very dimensionally stable, tear-resistant and elastic. The material absorbs very little water, dries very quickly and hardly creases.
It is precisely because of these properties that we use the fibre in our products. It is ideal for the production of hard-wearing LULU CROWN dog beds. But also our toy suppliers like Beco Pets and FuzzYard use this recycled material for their products.
You can wash our polyester dog beds in the washing machine at 40°C in the fine wash cycle. It is best to dry it lying on a clothes horse, not in the dryer. You should only iron the fabric at a low temperature. Usually this is not necessary.
